Individual Counseling is the most common type of therapy. Individual counseling can help people deal with a host of personal topics like confusion, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationships, finances, career changes, etc.
Individual counseling is a form of treatment where a client works one-on-one with a trained mental health clinician. The client has the opportunity in a explore their feelings, beliefs, values and behaviors and make meaning from them. They might be confronted with family of origin issues, memories or flashbacks and working to identify what is real or not, what they want to keep and what they want to change. As treatment progresses and the client has a clearer understanding of themselves and what they want to change, treatment goals are collaboratively developed to work toward desired change.
