About Me
My Mission Statement: To help people live whole and holy lives through restoring individual, couple and family relationships.
I offer a safe place for you to share and reflect on the circumstance that has courageously led you to consider seeing a counselor. Thank you for looking into me and my practice.
I am a marriage and family therapist who passionately focuses on marriage, family and individual counseling within a systems perspective. I integrate Christian belief and principles with current psychological and counseling research and practice. I am energetic yet compassionate, directive but patient, thoughtful with added humor using everyday stories and hearing your stories. I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and recognize that I mess up and sin daily. Because of my faith which guides my life and work, I welcome people of all faiths or no faith and faith will only be part of therapy as you desire.
I thrived as a stay-at-home mom. While our 3 kids were in high school and college, I was struck by the thought, what will I be doing in 10 years? The following fall I was studying to become a marriage and family therapist at Bethel (Seminary) University in Saint Paul. Integrating my love for Jesus, my wiring to connect and help people, counseling was the perfect answer. With over 20 years of experience in a Christian Outpatient Clinic I began Living Whole and Holy Counseling LLC, an online counseling practice.
I stay current in the counseling field through supervising graduate and post graduate students and mentoring fellow professionals. One of my favorite volunteer experiences was supervising counseling students at a neighborhood resource center. I’ve contributed to the counseling field by teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Theological Evangelical Seminary in Prague and doing trauma recovery trainings in Haiti and Bangladesh. I am the former President of the Wisconsin Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and had the honor of serving on the State of Wisconsin Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board.
My husband and I enjoy spending time with our 3 kids and their families. We are active in our local church and support ministries here and abroad. We like to travel, bike, walk and hike. I’m a life-learner and avid reader of psychology, theology and fiction.
I am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
